You're very welcome, Cindy, glad all the articles are helpful, that's certainly the goal.

The advice we gave in regards to the Chicago casting call was to consider what "early" means and then get there earlier than that. However the best answer I have is "I don't know." If it were me, I'd get there early in the morning so that I would hopefully be through the process by the early afternoon instead of standing in line during the hottest part of the day.

It's up to you -- good luck with everything!

Hi Mandy,

Thanks! I'm stoked, too. I can't reveal my sources but believe me -- it's trustworthy information. I can confirm that the 3rd casting call will not be in Boston. Other than that we're awaiting more details. Best of luck with your upcoming pitch, in LA or elsewhere!

Hi Andrew! Great blog! I'm stoked to hear there is going to be another casting call this summer. Where did you hear that from? I can't find any other sources that mention it. Debating whether or not I should buy a last minute ticket to LA this week... Thanks! I'll stay posted to your blog too.

Hi Jon,

Wouldn't the world be boring if ying didn't have a yang, if Superman had no one plotting his demise, etc? Kevin's role on the show and blunt and honest (to him, of course) assessment of businesses keeps things interesting to say the least. He's unapologetic about his goal to make money. If I were looking for an investor, that's something I'd pay attention to. My .02.

Hi Cindy,

What I've heard is that you're asked to pitch (this may be for later stages of casting, actually) a minimum amount that you'll be asking the Sharks for. So for instance if you ask for $100K during the casting process, the producers don't want you to walk on the set and ask for only $50K during filming.

Be prepared to pitch your product/business/company to a casting person or two at the open casting call. I usually suggest having a brief, energy-filled and fun synopsis of what you/your company does and why you're looking for an investment from the Sharks. That's probably a good place to start. The casting people are fun and it's important to impress but more important to be yourself. Remember that the show is about entertaining an audience as much as anything else.

If it's feasible to bring your products/materials, highly recommend it.

Any other thoughts or ideas from those that have been to open casting calls (or not) are welcome!

Hi Andrew,

I will be at the casting call this Thursday. Just curious if we need to bring any product or materials? I'm really not sure what to expect and if we start off by pitching the amount we are asking like on the show or do we skip that part and go right into our product pitch? Sorry if stupid questions, I just want to make sure I know what to expect. Thank you so much!

I find it disturbing that Kevin is even allowed on the show. It seems that "Mr. Wonderful" had a bit of a valuation problem when he sold his software company to Mattel. It's no coincidence that he irreverently questions the value of prospective "shark feed" businesses. I find him greedy and pompous due mainly to the fact that he still overvalues his own worth. I wonder how anyone with a legitimate idea would be desperate enough to take a deal from him.
