That’s a wrap on season 2 of Shark Tank!

Following seven days of filming, the Sharks are taking a well deserved break, after finishing filming season 2 of ABC’s Shark Tank. ABC ordered eight episodes of Shark Tank staring Kevin O’Leary, Barbara Corcoran, Robert Herjavec and Daymond John. This season Jeff Foxworth and Mark Cuban both guest stared for three episodes, and Kevin Harrington returned to fill in for the last two episodes.

Shark Tank is produced by Mark Burrnett and is an adaptation of the overseas hit Dragons Den. Ambitious entrepreneurs from across the country will have the opportunity to pitch their businesses to the Sharks, who are titans in their respective industrious. If the entrepreneurs have a good idea then the Sharks might invest their own money in the businesses. Shark Tank is set to return early in 2011.

Mark Cuban becomes a Shark

The Hollywood Report is reporting that Mark Cuban (a self-made billionaire entrepreneur who owns the Dallas Mavericks and HDNet) will be a guest on ABC’s Shark Tank for three episodes. It was previously announced Jeff Foxworthy would also be appearing in three episodes.

Cuban brings some much needed star power to the Shark Tank, which will hopefully result in higher ratings.

Open Casting Call in Los Angeles

The producers of Shark Tank are looking for entrepreneurs who need the Sharks help to make their business dreams come true.
For several weeks, producers have been asking entrepreneurs to send in their applications for Shark Tank, by emailing SharkTankCasting@yahoo.com but now the producers want to see you in person. The first open casting call has been announced for September 17th at the Beverly Garland’s Holiday Inn in North Hollywood. The casting call will take place from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
If you are in the area this is a great opportunity to wow the producers with your business or product.

Last season the Producers held casting calls in Chicago, New York, Orlando and LA, there is no word yet if this will be the only casting call this season or not.

ABC Renews Shark Tank for Second Season

ABC has renewed Shark Tank for a second season to air sometimes in early 2011. Although the season is smaller then last with only 8 episodes its still better then nothing.

All the Sharks will be returning this season, real-estate mogul Barbara Corcoran, infomercial pioneer Kevin Harrington, technology expert Robert Herjavec, fashion owner Daymond John and financial expert Kevin O’Leary. Comedian Jeff Foxworthy will join the Sharks for 3 episodes, adding a little mainstream star power to the group.

At first glance Jeff Foxworthy may not seem like a business tycoon like the rest of the Sharks but he has turned “You Might Be A Redneck If…” into an empire. Publishing over 25 books, selling 15 million records, creating a line of greeting card, owning restaurants, staring in a game show, his own brand of beef jerky, and BBQ sauce.

There is no information about casting as of yet but when it becomes available I will let you all know.

Over the weekend we were first to report that ABC had renewed Shark Tank for a second season. This was based on a tweet from Robert:
“Great news – ABC has ordered more episodes of Shark Tank !!!! No air date yet – but it’s coming.”
Today we have confirmed that ABC has not renewed Shark Tank for a second season, but in fact will air five more episodes at some point… These include three unaired episodes, and two episodes to be put together from already existing footage.

This is sort of a mixed blessing, on the one hand there will be five more episodes of shark tank at some point. But on the other hand if these segments were not good enough to air with the first nine episodes, then they may be smaller less exciting deals. Only time will tell, and I hope I am wrong.
So let’s keep up the pressure, let’s send e-mails to ABC telling them that we want a second season of Shark Tank. Even if you’ve already written a letter to ABC, send a second one, let them know you love the show.

Shark Tank Renewed?

According to Robert Herjavec Shark Tank has been renewed for a second season. Although I haven’t confirmed this with any one at ABC I’m pretty sure that Robert is a reliable source. No idea when the second season will air, but when they become available you’ll find it right here.
Casting information will be available here as it becomes available, so start preparing your pitches for the next season of ABC Shark Tank.

Edit: just got word from ABC that Shark Tank has not been renewed… as of yet.
Now this doesn’t mean it wont be renewed, it just means we need to keep sending letters to ABC.
So email ABC here and tell them to keep Shark Tank on the air.

Shark Tank Season 2?

This week is the Shark Tank season finale, and it hasn’t been a runaway hit, ratings wise. I believe that Shark Tank is a quality show that just keeps getting better. Each week new viewers tune in and watch the Sharks sink their teeth into quality deals. Shark Tank provides entrepreneurs with needed investment and media exposure to bring their businesses to the next level. On top of that the show is entertaining, addictive, educational, and funny. I believe that ABC and Mark Burnett Productions should produce a second season of Shark Tank.

The Deal You’ve Never Seen

This is a pitch that was never seen on Shark Tank. Vincent Porpiglia’s business Dream Water is an all-natural sleep supplement drink. He was looking for 250k and willing to give up 10% equity of his business. Dream Water uses no chemicals and natural ingredients such as melatonin, GABA, and L 5-hydroxytryptophan. Once you drink Dream Water it will help you drift gently off to sleep and wake up in the morning with out that groggy feeling.

They had only enough capital to produce 15,000 bottles but in one month they had sold half their inventory, and were currently in the process of producing just under 100,000 more units.

The Sharks pointed out that they were a nothing brand, and would have problems going up against a major soft drink manufacture if they chose to enter this market. Vincent pointed out that traditionally soft drink companies have bought out other companies to get their product rather than develop their own. Barbara was the first Shark to offer a deal, she offered 250k for 40% of the company but Vincent turned down the deal. Robert then offered 400k for 51% and Vincent accepted the deal.

Shark Tank Premieres Sunday August 9th

ABC is set to premier Mark Burnett’s Shark Tank August 9th at 9pm, following the return of Who Wants to Be a Millionaire. (Coincidence I think not!) Episodes will continue on Sundays at 9 through August 23, after which it will shift to its regular time period of Tuesdays at 8 starting August 25.

Shark Tank is a new reality show where entrepreneurs must try to convince five multi-millionaire business tycoons to part with their own hard-earned cash and give them the funding they need to jumpstart their business’s. Each week, ambitious entrepreneurs from across the country will present their breakthrough business concepts, products, properties and services to the panel of ruthless investors. Their goal is to convince these merciless moguls to invest their own dollars in the concept. Convincing real-life millionaires to part with their own money is no easy task, because when the idea is poor, the Sharks will tear into the ill-prepared presenters and pass on the idea with a simple, “I’m out!,” sending them running for the exit. Entrepreneurs will be asked to give up a percentage of their companies’ equity to the Sharks in order to get the investment they need.

Just one last note, be on the look out for scammers who may be taking advantage of would-be contestants during this casting process. You can never be too careful.
